Green AI Seminar
Join us for the Green AI Seminar, an engaging session on Sustainable Computing via Data and Memory Efficient Models. The event will feature a talk by Dr. Shreyank Gowda, Assistant Professor of the University of Nottingham. As AI models grow larger and more complex, their energy demands have become a critical environmental concern. This talk will explore strategies for balancing high-performance AI with energy efficiency, aligning technological advancements with sustainability goals.
The session will feature a presentation on the motivations behind sustainable computing, including the energy challenges posed by models like GPT-3, which required an estimated 1,287 MWh of energy during training—equivalent to the emission of hundreds of tons of CO₂. The speaker will introduce cutting-edge work on data- and memory-efficient models designed to reduce AI's environmental footprint while maintaining top-tier performance.
