Nationally award-winning trailblazer, Karen Valentia Clopton (ALI 2024, Senior Fellow 2025) is a champion of human and civil rights, a compelling keynote speaker, an environmental sustainability, energy efficiency, and corporate governance organizational expert, and an effective convener and collaborator of nationally and globally significant in person and digital programs. Serving in executive leadership and board roles for foundations, highly regulated public, private, and non-profit organizations, she adeptly oversees policy, ethics, finance, operations, complex domestic and global compliance, labor and employment law, fund development, and human resource risk management. Nationally recognized as a civic leader and humanitarian, Clopton’s vision and expertise change laws, create effective policies and programs, and positively impact the bottom line. As former Chief Administrative Law Judge for a decade for the California Public Utilities Commission and five years as a San Francisco Human Rights Commissioner, she brings gravitas as a neutral, an unbiased fact finder, and policy-maker. She serves on the GreenAI Institute's inaugural Advisory Board at Harvard and is a cum laude graduate of Vassar College and Antioch University School of Law.
